2026 Season Information
Summer Training- starts Monday June 15th
The cross country season is 10 weeks long, which athletes can grow quite a bit in. However, for varsity level athletes or folks who really want to grow, summer training provides an additional 9 weeks of growth, which are paramount to a successful season. Consistency is important and 19 weeks of growth will lead to much better results than 10.
For new athletes, the biggest thing is getting them there to team camp in July and to day 1 of practice (August 17th). We would obviously love for them to join during the summer, but we will work with all athletes who show up on day 1 of practice (August 17th).
Summer training are NOT required meet-ups, but simply an opportunity that most of our boys take advantage of to grow together. They are open gyms, where the older boys run the show and they grow together.
Boys meet at Greenfield Park, at the playground off of Lincoln Avenue (pavilion 3A) at 7:45am. They are usually done by 9am, maybe a little after.
Team Camp- July 8th-10th in Stevens Point, WI (CWES)
Team camp is a place where kids get an introduction to running and the team in a fun environment of camp!
We leave in the morning on the 8th and return late on the 10th (we provide transportation). All meals are covered. It is not required, but highly recommended, as a way to connect as a team to start the season!
CWES charges us $175 per person, which is a really good rate, considering it's two nights of lodging + 7 meals + all the activities they do there.

Initial Itinerary
I CANNOT EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH: Do not let cost be the reason your child doesn't attend. We can work out the details for financial assistance to whatever your family needs to make camp happen.
Camp is an incredible experience and we want each kid to get to grow as a part of that.
Sign-up deadline is Friday June 26th, but please get signed up ASAP if you know you are going!

Shoes: A good pair of trainers will keep athletes healthy and competing. These are your every day shoes for practicing and warming up at meets. They typically last a consistent 3-4 months of training. Please feel comfortable asking coaches if shoes are a financial struggle and we are always able to help out.
Racing Shoes / Spikes: Try these on at Performance Running Outfitters and be sure to tell the person helping you that you need cross country racing shoes/spikes, these are used for race days and some workout days. Please wear your running trainers to meets then you change into racing shoes before your race.
Uniform: The team uniform will be given out prior to our first meet and will be used throughout the season.
Pasta Parties: We maintain the Hale tradition of pre race pasta parties. We appreciate any families willing to host the team and I have made a sign up form with dates here. Feel free to co-op with another family. Pasta Party Sign Up
