Laser Relays Recap
On our most challenging course yet, the men finish 5th overall out of 29 teams at the Laser Relays. On our 5th consecutive weekend of competing, we had some imperfection but the team still was able to show a high standard of competing with another top 5 finish. A great example of how a change in perspective can help in running, Eric Harvey was able to start the day off with an individual victory. This was our third individual this year to win a race! It was one of the biggest fields of athletes this year as well, with some tight spots in the woods made for some fun racing for the guys and great experience headed into championship season. The loading up of eight men on the varsity level and without a couple potential scorers, the team still did a great job nabbing a 10th place finish thanks to the first place finish and some of our best races from the 3-5 guys. The next two races were combined for a team score, both by time and place but of course I look at the real scoring of places! Three scorers in the top 34 helped the team secure a 5th place finish. It is also promising to see the top 8 scorers tightening as a pack as we move into the most important races of the season. The biggest factor into how the team performs will be how much they can love one another and support each other to have no limits. Let's go! This coming week is a much needed mental/physical break from racing. Even going into the last meet, we took a much more relaxed mental approach, focusing on a good three weeks of just training and building some more strength headed into the championship season! 2023 Results Workbook This week Monday's practice is the annual lakefront run! This is a run that guys earn a spot to run and practice will be at 1:30 p.m. at Hale for those that are making the run. For those not listed, they will have off today and should not report to practice. They are free to go on a run of course. The following thirteen men should report for practice tomorrow, Brody Kaminski Damien Sheridan Eli Sayeg Eric Harvey Ethan Plier Iker Robles Joel Galarza John Gruichich Joseph Ventura Kai Bruner Koda Bruner Nate Hutter Preston Plier The team will run from Hale to Lake Michigan using Oklahoma Avenue. Upon finishing at the Lake, we will do some strides, hang by the lake a bit and then head back in the school vans to Hale for pick up. I would estimate around 4:30 p.m. for return but please give some variability here, a lot depends on how quickly we get the run going, rush hour traffic on return and other factors. The team will then have normal after school practices Tuesday through Friday. There will be NO formal meet up on this coming weekend. Some men may be assigned a run to do with teammates or on their own. We will pick things back up again next Monday then. The following week - Thursday meet at Mccarty! Here's the lineups and times of the meet, I will link meet information when I get it from hosts, Meet Information for Viking Pasta Party for Wednesday, October 4th will be at the Sayegs, 3054 s 96th street
